Troubleshooting
If you are experiencing difficulties in using Jabertel, please refer to the below list of common problems. If these suggestions do not resolve your problem, please contact our technical support staff.

Vista's security rules now require that you run Jabertel in administrator mode in order to access the PTT key while inside of another window. You can run in administrator mode by following these steps:
- Download the Jabertel client and save to your desktop
An alternative to this is to not use a PTT key, and instead use the hands-free mode. You can do this by unchecking the "Use Push-to-Talk (PTT) Key" check box on the main options tab.
- Right-click the Jabertel icon and then click 'Run as administrator'. -
Vista's security rules now require that you run Firefox in administrator mode in order to install plugins, including Jabertel. You can run in administrator mode by following these steps:
- Locate your Firefox icon on your Windows Desktop
- Right-click the Firefox icon and then click 'Run as administrator'. -
The most common cause of this error is having an out-of-date Jabertel client. Try manually downloading the Jabertel client to resolve this problem.
-
Older versions of Windows, such as Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, and Windows ME cause this problem. Download gdiplus.dll and save it in the same folder where you saved the JabertelUI.exe. The web version of Jabertel likely will not be usable on these versions of Windows, so try the downloadable Jabertel client instead.

The downloadable Jabertel client cannot automatically upgrade in some situations. Here are some examples:
- when running behind a strict firewall, such as at large corporate offices
- when running any version of Windows older than Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)
The workaround for this problem is to manually download the latest version of the Jabertel client.

If you notice that some of the text fields or checkboxes overlap each other on the Jabertel Options window, it usually is due to a non-standard Windows DPI setting. Some computers are pre-configured with a higher DPI than normal. Dell laptops are known for this configuration, because it makes the screen items, such as fonts and icons, appear larger. However, this can cause Jabertel to show text fields and other options in the incorrect location.
The workaround for this problem is to set the DPI back to the Normal setting (96 DPI). This can be done as follows:
- Open the Display Properties window by right-clicking on the Windows Desktop
- Click the Settings tab
- Click the Advanced button
- In the General Tab, change the DPI Setting to Normal Size (96 DPI)
- Agree to the popup by clicking OK
- Click OK on the Advanced and Display Settings windows to return to the Desktop
- Reboot, if required
-
Review the problem description for Options Window Distorted or Overlapping Items and try the suggested work-around.

Please be aware that the computer speech, which tells you when a user joins or leaves a channel, is configured independently from the Jabertel audio settings. The speech is configured for the Operating System. So even if you choose to use an alternate output device, such as headphones, for the Jabertel Audio Playback setting, the computer speech will still be heard from the output device configured for the operating system. In Windows, this can be changed via the Control Panel --> Sound and Audio Devices option, under the "Voice" tab. The volume for the computer speech is also controlled by this same tab.
